Filament Specifications

Thermal & Chemical Resistance:
ABS has a much higher heat deflection temperature than PLA, meaning it can withstand the heat inside a car on a summer day without warping. It is also soluble in acetone, which allows for "vapor smoothing"—a process that dissolves the outer layer of the print to create a glossy, injection-molded look.
High Durability and Impact Strength:
Unlike the brittle nature of PLA, ABS is tough and slightly ductile. It is designed to take a beating, making it the standard choice for Lego bricks, protective gear, and automotive components. It can be easily sanded, drilled, and painted for a professional finish.
Environmental Requirements:
ABS is notorious for warping and shrinking if it cools too quickly. To print it successfully, you generally need a heated bed (80-110c) and a closed enclosure to maintain a stable ambient temperature. It also produces fumes (VOCs) during printing, so it should be used in a well-ventilated area or with an air filtration system.
